Red clover (Trifolium pratense) is a herbaceous flowering plant belonging to the legume family. It is native to Europe, Western Asia, and Africa but has been introduced to many other parts of the world, including North America, where it is commonly cultivated.

Choose a sunny location with well-drained soil. Red clover can also tolerate some shade, but it will produce more flowers in full sun.

Prepare the soil by removing any weeds and debris and tilling or digging to a depth of about 4-6 inches.

Sow the seeds thinly, either by hand or using a seed spreader.

Lightly rake the seeds into the soil to ensure good contact.

Water the area thoroughly but gently, taking care not to wash away the seeds.

Keep the soil moist until the seedlings are well-established. Red clover does not require heavy watering, but it will not tolerate drought.

Once the seedlings have grown to a height of about 4 inches, you can begin to lightly mow or graze the area to encourage more vigorous growth and to prevent the plants from becoming too tall and leggy.

Red clover typically blooms in late spring or early summer and can be harvested for its leaves and flowers.
